Breeder Terms
When you register as an AMTR Breeder you agree to follow the AMTC Breeders' Codes, and the Guidelines, Polices and Terms outlined below. *We encourage spay and neuter of all Morkie, Yorkies, Biewers and Maltese not being used in a breeding program and that are not of breeding quality.
All Breeder Member's agree to the following:
For fresh/frozen semen, all testing for the stud must meet AMTC requirements and be current at the time of collection. For those studs who were so qualified at the time of collection, the AMTC Health Clearance requirement will be considered current regardless of the date the semen is utilized. If the stud exhibits a inheritable health problem at any time after testing, the stored semen should be destroyed and AMTC will not accept offspring from the stud into the AMTR registry.
Note: When fresh/frozen semen is utilized and the AMTC Health Clearance on the stud is no longer current, you will need to supply the AMTC Registrar with documentation from the vet performing the insemination as to the date the semen used was collected.
Dual Sired Litters *New
Any puppies produced by an attempted dual sired litter will not be accepted unless a DNA test to determine parentage has been completed and both Sire's are AMTR Registered Members.
NON-AMTR Registered Dams or Sires *New
AMTR will register the 1st litter of a mating from an AMTR registered Dam or Sire mated to a NON-Registered Dam or Sire as long as the Dam or Sire used is "PUREBRED" and a breed accepted by AMTC - Morkshire, Yorkshire, Maltese, or Biewer only. Any subsequent breedings using that same Sire or Dam must register as a breeder with AMTR and be DNA-profiled by AMTC to continue to register litters.

Patellas and heart clearances need to be completed again between 12 and 14 mos. of age to achieve a permanent clearance; males may breed for as long as they are able to produce healthy litters.

Required Pedigree Information
As evidenced by both AMTC’s Mission Statement and AMTR’s Policy, AMTC’s primary goal is to maintain the integrity of the American Morkshire Terrier and set standards for its future. In order to do so, all dogs registered with AMTR during "Closed Registration" must be either a purebred American Morkshire Terrier, Yorkshire Terrier, Biewer or Maltese that is composed of only those parent breeds. In order to do so, the following pedigree information must be provided:
To increase diversity in the American Morkshire Terrier and when purebred dogs have no proof of ancestry- during "Closed Registration" - applicants are able to DNA test undocumented American Morkshire Terriers, Yorkshire Terriers, Biewer, and Maltese to show breed verification of only American Morkshire Terrier, Yorkshire Terrier, Biewer and Maltese in order to be eligible for AMTR registration. American Morkshire Terriers, Yorkshire Terriers, Biewers and Maltese that do not have an acceptable pedigree available may be accepted as registered breeding dogs, so long as a DNA breed verification test is performed to prove the purebred status of each undocumented dog.
NOTE: The DNA breed verification testing must be performed by Viaguard or Wisdom Optimal Selection for the American Morkshire Terrier. This test is also accepted by the Wisdom Panel 3.0 or 4.0 for the Yorkshire Terrier, Biewer and Maltese breeds.
ALL registered names for dogs originally submitted for registration from an AMTR accepted registry (i.e. AKC, CKC etc) will use the same name as it is registered on the original registration/pedigree.
