*ALL Breeders start as Level 1 Breeders and may move to Level 2 Breeders - upon completing Level 2 requirements-*
Members of this club are encouraged to work towards bettering their line, to expose themselves to exhibit shows and displays of Morkies, Yorkies, Maltese and Biewers by professionals and even perhaps, show their own Morkie, Yorkie, Maltese or Biewer one day. Members are not required to show their dogs, but encouraged to at least learn through exposure to such.
As a Silver Breeder you will be required to have for each registered breeding dog:
- A DNA profile completed within three years of joining AMTC. Meaning ~ your Dam and Sire registered with AMTC MUST be DNA-Profiled by AMTC to continue to register any litters with AMTC and to remain an AMTC Breeder. AMTC DNA Profiling is for parentage verification and genetic identity purposes only. This DNA test DOES NOT determine ~ a breed, purebred status, coat color, coat type or any genetic health disorders of a breed.
- AMTC DNA Profile Test ~ Ordered Here
- Upon completion of DNA profiling you will receive an AMTC Breeder Certificate of Completion.
As a Gold Breeder you will be required to have for each registered breeding dog:
- A OFA- Cardiac Veterinary Exam ~ this is only accepted on a dog that is 12 months old or over.
- A OFA Eye Exam ~ this exam is performed by a Board Certified Ophthalmologist, submitted to OFA. This test is to be completed at 1 year old and must be completed again at the age of 3 years old.
- A OFA Patella Luxation Exam ~ this exam is only accepted on a dog that is 12 months old or over.
- Disease Clear Result Test(s): Hyperuricosuria (HU), Primary Lens Luxation (PLL), Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA-prcd) ~ these disease test results can be performed by Gensol Diagnostic Lab or by Animal Genetics. Order AMTC DNA Combo Kit here. These tests may be administered at any age.
- A DNA-Verification Test ~ this test is to administered by ACCU-Viaguard or Wisdom Panel. Order DNA Verification here.
- Upon completion of ALL requirements listed ~ you will receive an AMTC Breeder Certificate of Completion.
The American Morkshire Terrier Club's health clearance requirements are required on all AMTC LEVEL BREEDER MEMBER'S Breeding Dog(s) in regards to their breeding practices. These health clearances are in place to ensure that AMTC Breeder's are breeding healthy purebred parent dogs that will produce healthy offspring. Health Testing Requirements are found here. ALL AMTC Breeder's agree to follow the AMTC Breed Standard for the American Morkshire Terrier, and AKC Breed Standards' for the Yorkshire Terrier, the Maltese, and German Breed Standard for the Biewer Yorkshire Terrier when it comes to their breeding practices.

Open Registration
OPEN REGISTRATION: AMTC has a special type of registration known as 'Open' Registration, that is available for a limited time. The American Morkshire Terrier Club sets this time frame for the breed. Eligibility for Open Registration (updated 08/13/2021):
- A dog must be born in the United States. Otherwise, registration will have to be submitted with a Foreign Dog Registration Application ~ to request an application contact AMTC here.
- The dog must be of a breed eligible for registration in the AMTC Stud Book. Breeds Eligible for Open Registration: Morkshire Terrier (Morkie), Yorkshire Terrier (Yorkie), Biewer (Biewer Yorkshire Terrier), and Maltese - *Open Registration until 01/30/2027*
- The owner must be a resident of the United States.
- Dogs with no documented ancestry will be registered into AMTC's Foundation Stock Program (FSP). AMTC provides this program for the purebred rare breed to continue to develop while providing them with the security of a reliable, accurate, and respectable database to maintain their records.
- Applications for Open Registration can be completed Online or by U.S. Mail.
CLosed registration
CLOSED REGISTRATION: AMTC has what's referred to as 'Closed' Registration, that is available when the AMTC Open Registration is Closed. Eligibility for Closed Registration:
- A dog must be born in the United States. Otherwise, registration will have to be submitted with a Foreign Dog Registration Application ~ to request an application contact AMTC here.
- The dog must be of a breed eligible for registration in the AMTC Stud Book. Breeds Eligible for Closed Registration: American Morkshire Terrier (Morkie), Yorkshire Terrier (Yorkie), Biewer (Biewer Yorkshire Terrier), and Maltese *Effective 01/2027*
- The owner must be a resident of the United States.
- The dog must be registered with a domestic or foreign registry acceptable to the AMTC. AMTC Acceptable Registries listed here.
- The dog must be registered in the same owner(s) name that appears on the registration certificate and/or pedigree from the domestic or foreign registry.
- Applications for Closed Registration can be completed Online or by U.S. Mail.
